How to Make Money as a Stay at Home Dad in 4 Hardworking Ways

Have you gotten caught up in a get rich quick scheme? I have. A NUMBER of times. Back when I was a naive high school graduate that didn’t want to work, I thought finding something easy to latch on to would put thousands in my pocket each month. Then reality hit and I realized money isn’t made without effort. Whether you are working for a hotel, retail store, or building your own business.

If you are a dad who is in a transition in life, no matter how big or small, building an online business may have caught your interest but you weren’t ready to take action on it. You may be tired of answering to a boss who doesn’t care about you when you are off the clock, or you may have recently been fired or laid off.

I have 4 jobs you can use to make money as a stay at home dad, as long as you are willing to put the time and effort into it. Keep reading to find out which ideas are best for you! (Affiliate links may be included!)

Become a Freelance Writer

You might be thinking that you can’t become a freelance writer without a 4-year degree in English from a major university, but that misconception couldn’t be further from the truth. You can make money writing blog articles for websites, creating newsletters, or manage social media pages to name a few.

When I started out I used content mills to find work, it got me my first couple of jobs and I was insanely surprised people were paying me for my thoughts on being a dad! As I grew my online presence and applied for positions with different writing agencies I landed an excellent ghostwriting gig.

My role with that company has grown and I love being part of the community. So where can you go to start your freelance writing career? The Horkey Handbook created by Gina Horkey is the way to go!

When I started her course I was nervous that I wouldn’t be able to do the work needed to create a sustainable online writing career. Her course went into excellent detail on what it takes to become a freelance writer and her resources are some of the best in the business.

Don’t think about a career in freelance writing without looking at her course!

Become a Virtual Assistant

You may think that a virtual assistant is just a stay at home mom with a bunch of free time on her hands to answer phone calls and send emails. That couldn’t be farther from the truth. Although the virtual assistant industry is predominantly female, there are a number of men who also make a huge impact in the field.

You can make money as a stay at home dad by helping someone manage their business. Creating powerpoint presentations, handling their travel accommodations, or managing their online content are some of the ways a VA helps out a business.

If you’ve ever managed an office department or handled any important responsibilities at work you can become a virtual assistant!

Create Your Own Website

It doesn’t take a genius to create a website. With the growth of technology, you can have a website up and running in a matter of minutes. What you choose to do with that website is completely up to you. Your website can (and should) focus on something you love, whether it be fashion, animals, or fitness.

I have spoken recently about the wonders of the Wealthy Affiliate Program, and you can’t go wrong building a website through them. The level of detail involved with the training is the best on the market in my opinion, and I don’t see any reason how you can fail to grow your business besides a lack of effort (which we won’t let happen right?).

You even have the ability to open your own online store through Amazon or Shopify. Definitely a income generator if you make the right moves.

Call Center Representative

There are hundreds of big name companies looking for call center representatives? The main reasons? Keeping expenses down on costs for call centers, and the sheer demand of the job. Being a call center rep can give you a number of options that can include tech support or if you work for a hospitality company (Hilton hotels for example), making reservations for guests.

These options provide you the flexibility to make money as a stay at home dad while working a schedule you can be comfortable with. The perks of working for these corporations are also available even if you work part time so why not give it a shot!!

What Are Your Next Steps?

About Me

So I’ll try to be short and sweet to define myself in a nutshell. I’ve worked in the hospitality industry for 9 years. Jobs ranging from front desk agent all the way up to General Manager. I love the industry but always wanted more from my job, and if you don’t know the right people sometimes it’s hard to break through.

In the summer of 2016, I decided to start working on Upwork. I got paid to write 12 articles about parenting and I thought “could it really be this easy?”. So I created my freelance writing business. I started writing for a sports website and was making a small amount of spending money and then I picked up a sweet gig with a ghostwriting company.

I’ve worked two roles with them since May of last year and it’s great, but I want to help other dads working from home create their own businesses as well.

I was able to create this website through the Wealthy Affiliate Program. If you are interested in joining the program click here.

By clicking the link above you will have access to a number of resources for creating your website, without any costs at all!

I want to help provide you with knowledge and information to get you where you want to be!!
